The ABA National Inventory of Collateral Consequences of Conviction (“NICCC”) is a project of the ABA’s Criminal Justice Section (“CJS”). It is an online database of the collateral consequences of criminal convictions contained in the laws and regulations of the federal, state and territorial jurisdictions of the United States. This project was supported by Award No. 2009-IJ-CX-0102, awarded by the National Institute of Justice, Office of Justice Programs, U.S. Department of Justice. The opinions, findings, and conclusions or recommendations expressed in this publication are those of the authors and do not necessarily reflect those of the Department of Justice. Any views expressed in it have not been approved by any state, the federal government, or ABA’s House of Delegates, and accordingly, may not be construed as representing the views or policies of any of them.

The Administration on Aging (AOA) is the principal agency of the U.S Department of Health and Human Services designated to carry out the provisions of the Older Americans Act of 1965 (OAA), as amended (42 U.S.C.A. § 3001 et seq.). The OAA promotes the well-being of older individuals by providing services and programs designed to help them live independently in their homes and communities. The Act also empowers the federal government to distribute funds to the states for supportive services for individuals over the age of 60.

ADL has long been in the forefront of national and state efforts to deter and counteract hate-motivated criminal activity. ADL's model hate crimes statute provides for increased penalties for criminals who target their victims because of their personal characteristics, such as race, religion, national origin, gender or sexual orientation. Now, 45 states and the District of Columbia have enacted hate crimes laws based on (or similar to) ADL's model.

(ARDA) is a project funded by the Lilly Endowment, Inc. and acts to preserve quantitative data on American religion, to improve access to this data, to increase the use of the data, and to allow comparisons across data files. The ARDA collection includes data on churches and church membership, religious professionals, and religious groups (individuals, congregations and denominations).

The Center for World Indigenous Studies (CWIS) is an independent, non-profit [U.S. 501(c)(3)] research and education organization dedicated to wider understanding and appreciation of the ideas and knowledge of indigenous peoples and the social, economic and political realities of indigenous nations.

The purpose of Data.gov is to increase public access to high value, machine readable datasets generated by the Executive Branch of the Federal Government. A priority Open Government Initiative, Data.gov increases the public's ability to easily find, download, and use datasets that are generated and held by the Federal Government. Descriptions of the Federal datasets are provided as well as information about how to access the datasets. A primary goal of Data.gov is to improve access to Federal data and expand creative use of those data beyond the walls of government by encouraging innovative ideas (e.g., web applications). Data.gov strives to make government more transparent and is committed to creating an unprecedented level of openness in Government.

FAOSTAT is an online database with a vast array of statistics on food and agriculture, with data from 210 countries and territories as well as international statistics. Access is free, but register in order to take full advantage of this rich resource.

The Southern Poverty Law Center was founded in 1971 as a small civil rights law firm. Today, the Center is internationally known for its tolerance education programs, its legal victories against white supremacists and its tracking of hate groups.

This project examines the ways in which societies change over time. Specifically, we have present reports on social, economic and political aspects of society, and trends over time in these characteristics. Through these reports, we intend to present a picture of how society is constructed, and how society changes over time.

We use data sets that are available on the web to describe many different aspects of society, such as basic socio-demographics (i.e., population size, growth, age and urban distribution, infant mortality rate, education), technology (i.e., electricity consumption, telephone mainlines), politics (i.e., political rights, freedom, armed conflict) and communication (tv, radio, newspaper, internet). We also present long term changes in economic growth and population, to place more current changes in context.
