Abell Library offers a variety of services to the Austin College community. The services listed below are exclusively available for Honors Students (those who have been nominated to complete an Honor's Thesis or Project by their department), and these are in addition to the services noted on the services for all students. If you need to contact a librarian or library staff member about any of the services noted below, click here for email addresses and phone numbers.
Your librarians are available to meet with honors students to discuss research techniques and possible resources to locate information for your specific thesis topic. Please schedule an appointment with any librarian to help you use research tools available at Abell Library and to obtain resources from other libraries.
As an honors student, you may check out print materials for 120 days (~4 months) instead of the standard 28-day checkout period for students. This change to your library account should be automatic, but please confirm your status at the circulation desk with Maria Conklin (Circulation Supervisor) or Greg Dawson (Access Services Librarian) when checking out materials. Verify you have received the correct checkout duration with your due date receipts, and contact Maria or Greg with any discrepancies or questions you may have.
Contact Donna Flatt (Assistant to the College Librarian) to reserve one of the library’s study rooms designated for honors students and to obtain a key. These rooms are located on the west wall of the second floor of the library and are typically shared by 3 honors students. Network ports are activated for laptop use in all of these rooms.
