Library: Interlibrary Loan (ILL)

Interlibrary Loan (ILL)

Interlibrary loan (ILL) is a cooperative service provided by libraries throughout the United States and is intended to be a supplement to, not a replacement for, the resources available in our library.

One should thoroughly examine and utilize the materials available in Abell before making an Interlibrary loan request for materials. The librarians can offer advice for obtaining available resources from Abell's collection or from other libraries, and they also can help you to fill out the form necessary to place a borrowing request.

If a catalog search reveals that we do not have a book or journal title in our library, please complete an Interlibrary Loan (ILL) form for the book or article (links below).

  • ILL Article Request Form
  • ILL Book Request Form
  • Allow five to ten days for requested material to arrive from the lending library. Though interlibrary loan is based upon cooperation between institutions, some do charge for loans or for photocopying. We will usually pay charges for student requests, and for faculty requests we will charge your departmental account.
  • Books borrowed through ILL are held at the circulation desk, while articles are sent to you via email.
  • You will receive a notification via email that your ILL material has arrived or is available.
  • Contact Karen Oliver with any questions.
