Use our catalog to search for books at Abell Library (and other libraries, too):
Some Subject Headings you may wish to try:
Slaves -- United States -- Biography | Slavery -- Economic aspects -- United States History |
Books on slavery-related topics can be found in many different areas of the library, depending on the context - economics, history, literature, sociology, and others. Try looking under these call number groups - but remember, these are only a few examples:
E 185 African American Biography |
E 443/444 Slaves - Southern States |
HD 53 Economic history |
HB 985 Slave Trade |
Look for the first letter of the call number on the end of the shelves to find what you're looking for or to browse. Circulating books are located on the 2nd floor of the library.
TIP: Once you have found a couple of books in the catalog and have located them on the shelves, browse in the same area to see if there are other titles of interest. This is a great way to locate a title that a catalog search may have missed!
By default, searching our catalog will only look for items here at AC. You may instead choose the search option "Libraries Worldwide" (see image below) if you are not finding what you need here.
You may request to borrow the item from another library via Interlibrary Loan (ILL).
