Connecting from Off-Campus

Abell Library provides off campus access to electronic resources (such as databases, e-books, and e-journals) to current students, faculty, and staff. To access these resources remotely, users will be prompted to sign in with their Austin College email address and password. See below for more information.

Questions regarding your AC email address and/or password? Please contact the IT Help Desk at 903-813-2063.

Access to Electronic Resources

On Campus Access

You can access any of our online electronic resources from anywhere on campus, regardless of whether you are on a campus-owned computer or a personal laptop or device connected to Wi-Fi. From the navigation bar above, click on Collections and select Databases from the dropdown menu to view a complete list of our databases.

Off Campus Access

Proceed as though you are on campus, and select a database. Once you've chosen the database you wish to access, you will first be redirected to a login screen to authenticate with your AC email address and password. (See screenshot below.) This process will be the same regardless of whether you are accessing a database, an e-journal, or e-book

  • You will be prompted for your AC credentials the first time you access a restricted e-resource from off campus. (Password is case-sensitive.)
  • Once you have entered these credentials, continue using all sites (including restricted databases) without having to log in.
  • If you close your browser, or your login session expires (typically after a few hours), you will be prompted to log in again using the same credentials.

NOTE: Please disable any VPNs when trying to use library resources remotely, and simply follow the instructions included here for seamless access to the library's electronic resources.
