Hello! The tutorials on this page are designed for use by faculty in FYS courses, but they can be used in any course, or by any student who's new to Austin College (or anyone who may require a refresher)! They are arranged as a sequence, but may be utilized individually as needed.

Library Search Basics

This interactive tutorial will walk you through the basics of searching for books and articles in WorldCat Discovery.

Time to complete: 20-25 minutes

Scholarly or Popular? Evaluating Articles in a Library Database

This interactive tutorial will take you a step further in your search, exploring and distinguishing articles from academic (scholarly/peer-reviewed journals) and non-academic (popular magazines, newspapers) sources.

Time to complete: 20-25 minutes

Evaluating Information Sources

This tutorial is designed to help you learn how to evaluate information sources, a key information literacy skill.
